Our History

First Christian Church of Hessville was started in 1918. A tent meeting on Kennedy Avenue, sponsored by the First Christian Church of Hammond, C.J. Sharp, minister, and lead by D. Emmett Snyder, evangelist, provided the nucleus of our congregation.
2019 marks the 101st year of the body at Hessville. Since the beginning in 1918, First Christian Church has had five senior Ministers: J.K. Woerner, 1920-1927; B.W. Carrier, 1927-1958; John Snyder, 1958-2001; Grant Ray, 2001-2004; and Dan Nichols since September 2004.
